Question 1. Why do the courtiers call the prince ‘The Happy Prince’ ? Is he really happy ? What does he see all around him ?

Answer : In the early times, He was a Prince when he was alive but unfortunately he is not alive now. During the Prince time, he never knew what is sorrow and suffering. He was very unawared regarding what is real life. So, the courtiers called him ‘The Happy Prince’. But actually he was not happy, his heart could feel the misery of many needy people. Around him, he saw many needy people with miserable conditions.

Question 2. Why does the Happy Prince send a ruby for the seamstress ? What does the swallow do in the seamstress’ house ?

Answer : Due to the overwork, the seamstress was tired. She was very poor so she could not able to buy oranges for her little sick son. When the Happy Prince saw them, the son was thirsty. He felt sad for them and wanted to help. So, he sent a ruby for her. The swallow came to the poor woman’s house and then laid the ruby on the table. The bird fanned the boy’s forehead with wings and after that flew back to the Happy Prince.

Question 3. For whom does the Prince send the sapphires and why ?

Answer : The Prince sent the sapphires for the playwright. The playwright was soo poor and not able to buy food and firewood. The Prince sent that sapphires so that he could finish a play in a particular time. The Prince sent another sapphire to a poor match girl which was the second sapphire. Her mathches had fallen into the gutter and so she was afraid for her father. So, she was helped by the Prince through sending her the second sapphire.

Answer : The swallow saw all types or categories of people. He found the rich making merry in their most beautiful houses. He also noticed that beggars begging sitting at the gate. After that he also saw a wandering children’s group who were very poor.

Answer : The swallow not leave the Prince and go to Egypt. At first, the swallow was willing to go to Egypt when he discharging his duty properly. But he was impressed when he saw the Prince’s activities towards charity and kindness. Now the Prince had become totally blind and the reason behind of this is the deeds of charity. For this condition, he could not leave the Prince helpless so he canceled the idea of going to Egypt and decided to serve the Prince.

Answer : The two precious things are the Leaden Heart of the Happy Prince and the Dead swallow. They did various deeds for the welfare of people and sacrificed their lives for others, soo they are considered as precious things in the lesson ‘Happy Prince’.

Answer : According to Prince’s orders, the gold leaves and the jewels on his body were taken out by the swallow and distributed among the poor. Through this activities, happy prince was able to help the poor children in the city.
